Hay Springs board approves payables, policy updates and equipment purchases

The Hay Springs School District Board of Education on July 14 unanimously approved a slate of routine financial and policy items and authorized two capital purchases.
At a meeting in the district cafeteria, President J. Anderson and five other board members approved the June 9 meeting minutes and June-ending financial account summaries. The board approved July payables totaling $136,486.03 and July payroll liabilities totaling $231,874.33. Board member M. Kearns moved to approve the financial items and K. Stock seconded; the roll call vote passed 6–0.
The board also completed second readings and approvals of a set of board policies (listed at the meeting as 607.01 through 611.04 and a separate set of revisions including 502.01, 502.02, 504.06, 504.12, 506.01, 506.10, 507.05, 507.05R1, 508.18, 604.16, 604.16R1, 605.05, 1005.03 and 1005.13). D. Russell moved the policy readings; K. Hughbanks seconded, and the roll call passed 6–0.
The board approved purchases requested by administration: music risers at a cost of $8,343.23 and a 2025 Suburban for $61,500, with direction to sell the old Suburban by closed bids. D. Russell moved to purchase the risers and the Suburban; M. Kearns and K. Hughbanks provided seconds where noted; recorded votes on these purchases were unanimous 6–0.
