Residents press council on Hovley West safety; local pharmacist complaints raised about state oversight

Gatens said recent midday passing incidents underscore the need for engineering changes to calm traffic and improve safety.
Mike Morsch spoke on behalf of the owners of Fireside Pharmacy and described repeated inspections, investigations and corrective demands by the California Board of Pharmacy over the past year. He said the business is a compounding pharmacy and that compliance-related work diverted staff from patient care. "The restrictions that they've put on these folks is unbelievable," Morsch said, and he asked council members to read the packet he submitted and consider supporting letters or petitions.
Council members thanked both speakers and staff for the submissions; no formal council action was taken during the non-agenda comment period, and the mayor referred the matters to staff for follow-up as appropriate.
