On July 9 the Palm Desert City Council renewed the President's Plaza 3 Property and Business Improvement District for a new five-year term beginning in fiscal year 2026'27 after ballot tabulation showed overwhelming support.
Public Works Project Manager Maria Murillo explained the district encompasses 16 assessed commercial parcels between Sage Lane and Highway 74 and funds maintenance and operations that support the commercial area, including parking-lot landscaping, lighting and debris removal. Following a recess to tabulate ballots, the city clerk reported 95% of weighted ballots were in favor and 5% opposed; the council found no majority protest and approved the renewal by a 5-0 vote.
Murillo said the renewal will allow the district to continue services and assessments will be collected to support operations in the coming fiscal year. The council did not amend the district boundaries or services during the hearing.
The renewal takes effect according to the city's adopted assessment and district procedures; staff will proceed with implementation and billing.
