"Outdoor workers provide essential services that support the safety, infrastructure, cleanliness, accessibility and overall quality of life of communities throughout California," Truby said while reading the proclamation. Staff and workers accepted the proclamation and posed for photos following the brief presentation.
Community Services Manager Shawn Muir and employee representatives noted how crews across departments'from landscape maintenance to traffic operations'contribute daily to public safety and quality of life. Council members used the moment to thank staff for a recent city luncheon for employees and for their work supporting large events such as the city's July 4 celebration.
The proclamation is primarily ceremonial; no policy or budgetary changes were proposed during the presentation. The council moved on to other agenda items after the photo opportunity.
