The Director updated the Norton Parks Committee that he has interviewed six candidates for a program-coordinator position and has a candidate of interest who is pending town manager approval.
“Program coordinator, I've interviewed six people. We have one of very much interest. I'm waiting for the town manager to approve his…,” the Director said. The Director described the candidate as a young man with youth-sports and event experience who referees locally and has a background in athletics; the hire will proceed only after the town manager’s sign-off.
On pool operations, the Director reported the facility is operating smoothly. He said a college senior, Olivia, has been acting as lead lifeguard and that the pool has rentals every weekend through the end of August except one public Sunday; DPW made several facility upgrades, including kitchen improvements and exterior work around the pump building. The committee noted no issues with weekend rentals but said they had one open public Sunday on July 5.
