DNR notifies Queenstown of $1.5M FY26 waterway funds for Phase 2 dredging of Queenstown Creek

Town staff told the commissioners on July 23 that the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) indicated $1.5 million in FY26 Waterway Improvement Funds (WIF) for Phase 2 dredging of Queenstown Creek, subject to final reporting. Staff said reuse of dredged material was approved by 'MD Gen' and the town is awaiting a final Bayland report; once Bayland’s report is approved the town will be able to apply for the necessary permits and additional funding, including the FY27 WIF application window that opens now through Sept. 18.
Staff are coordinating next steps with DNR and Bayland; no formal action or commitment of local funds was reported at the July 23 meeting.
