The Brentwood Public Works Committee on July 9 reviewed Parks & Recreation fee recommendations and approved forwarding them to Ways and Means for inclusion in the 2027 budget process.
Parks staff framed the discussion as the start of budget season, saying, "it's budget time, the most wonderful time of the year," and outlined proposed increases: meeting rooms A and C (about $5 per hour for residents, $10 for nonresidents for Room A), adding a nonresident fee for the galley kitchen, raising prime-time ice rink rates (to roughly $300) and modestly increasing dog-park fees (about $5). Staff said increases aim to keep municipal rates competitive while covering rising operational costs, including utilities and food for party packages.
Committee members asked for clarifications on specific rates and whether pavilion rentals would change; staff recommended no change to the event pavilion this year. The committee moved, seconded and approved forwarding the recommended fee schedule to Ways and Means and the Board of Aldermen for final budget consideration.
Next steps: staff will model the recommended rates into the proposed budget and present them to Ways and Means and the Board of Aldermen for adoption.
