Engineer reports drainage project start and approves irrigation repairs; counsel updates Corkscrew Road ownership review

District Engineer Charlie Krebs presented a revised scope for the Seaside & Master Drainage Project designed to preserve the project's original intent while allowing easier modifications; MRI expects work to commence within two to three weeks.
Krebs also presented ancillary irrigation repair estimates from Irrigation Concepts: $4,002.50 to repair damaged wiring and about $1,300 each to raise seven to eight irrigation heads. On a motion by Kurt Blumenthal and seconded by Bob Schultz, the board approved an Irrigation Concepts change order to repair wiring and raise irrigation heads in a not-to-exceed amount of $15,000.
Separately, District Counsel Tony Pires said his legal opinion about ownership of Corkscrew Road (west of U.S. 41) has not changed. PSGRC President Neil Collins said town-hall discussions concerning ownership are focusing on the intersection of U.S. 41 and Corkscrew Road's east side; Mr. Wilhems confirmed the study will include the west side as well.
