Millie Osguthorpe, representing Discover Klamath, presented the organization's quarterly tourism update, reporting flat overall growth through March but increases in short-term rental occupancy and average daily rates and robust passenger counts at local airports.
Osguthorpe said Discover Klamath will launch a new website built on the Tempest platform to improve user experience and partner communication, and is implementing grant-funded projects including a Crater Lake initiative intended to counter negative publicity. The organization plans targeted social media and influencer marketing, an adventure tourism film series, gateway downtown revitalization supported by a grant from economic development partners, and workforce efforts such as micro-internships and school partnerships to promote hospitality careers.
Discover Klamath also announced new events and services to diversify offerings — examples cited included a Ragnar relay, soccer tournaments, Ironman site visits and a new river rafting service operated by Indigo Creek Outfitters — and said it is using data analytics to track visitor origins and behavior to inform marketing strategies. No new funding requests to the Board were recorded during the update.
