Humboldt County supervisors approve $550,000 roads budget amendment, update Title VI assurances and authorize contracts

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors approved a $550,000 FY2026 amendment to the county Secondary Roads budget following a public hearing on May 18, 2026.
County Engineer Ben Loots presented the proposed amendment during the hearing, which drew no public comments. On a motion by Supervisor Thompson, seconded by Supervisor Pedersen, the board adopted Resolution 2026-05-18.1 accepting the amendment; a roll call vote recorded Carpenter, Pedersen, Rasmussen, Reimers and Thompson voting aye.
In the same meeting the board approved Resolution 2026-5-18.2 to submit updated Title VI/non-discrimination assurances to the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Iowa Department of Transportation. The resolution, which the county attorney and county engineer reviewed and recommended, authorizes the chairperson and the county auditor to execute the required documents. The board approved the measure on a motion by Pedersen and seconded by Carpenter; all voted aye.
The board also approved two vouchers for Federal-aid projects to Mathy Construction: Voucher #2 for FM-CO46(92)—55-46 for $309,397.66 and Voucher #2 for FM-CO46(93)—55-46 for $351,327.94. The board accepted a bid from Hi-way Truck for $307,281 to purchase snow removal equipment. Each of these actions was approved by motion with all supervisors voting aye.
