Supervisor candidate raises absentee ballot error; auditor says four voters re-voted

Kelly Gonder, a 2026 primary supervisor candidate, reported to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors on June 8 that her son experienced a problem while absentee voting in the county primary. The issue was raised during the board’s public concerns period.
The Auditor’s Office told the board it identified four affected absentee ballots. According to the Auditor’s Office, the four voters were called back to the Auditor’s Office, allowed to re-vote on the correct ballot, and their original ballots were spoiled to preserve the integrity of the count. Chairperson Reimers opened that portion of the meeting for public concerns and the Auditor’s Office provided the explanation to the board.
The board did not take further formal action at the meeting; the public concern was recorded and the meeting continued with scheduled business.
