Historic commission approves minutes, elevates alternate to full member; hears signage, window updates

SANBORNTON, N.H. — At its March 17 meeting the Sanbornton Historic District Commission approved draft minutes from Jan. 6 and recommended that alternate member Barbara Whetstone be appointed as a full member with a term expiring in 2029.
Member Nina Gardner moved to approve the Jan. 6 minutes; Tom Lynch seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Lynch then moved to recommend Whetstone as a full member to replace Franz Vail; Gardner seconded and that motion also passed unanimously.
Selectman Brandon Deacon reported that replacing historic-district signs on state routes requires state approval and that the commission must supply sign dimensions. Chair Sam Swartz said the storm windows at Lane Tavern need work; he noted repair estimates of $1,600–$1,800 per window versus about $500 per window to replace with treated pine single-pane units. No formal proposal or funding request for the Lane Tavern work was presented.
The meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m. The commission's next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m.
