The Sanbornton Board of Selectmen on March 4 approved an updated town organizational chart and confirmed preparations for next week’s Town Meeting, including rental of a U-Haul to move materials and selection of a pastor to deliver the invocation.
Town Administrator Trish Stafford presented organizational chart version 4 (March 2026) and the board voted to approve it after Selectman Brandon Deacon moved the motion and Selectman Glenn Frederick seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved the minutes from Feb. 25, 2026, by unanimous vote.
The selectmen discussed a townwide longevity and merit increase plan. Stafford said the Fire Chief’s proposal could be replicated across departments. Selectman Deacon suggested reviewing position classifications every two years to avoid handing the entire task to a newly constituted board. The library requested inclusion in the pay-classification update; it must submit updated job descriptions by April 8, 2026 to be considered under the Nov. 2025 Barrington NH Total Classification study guidance.
Selectman Ralph Carter urged caution on a separate warrant article that would discontinue the Highway Capital Reserve Fund, saying funds moved into the General Fund could be reallocated to other projects; he said he plans to recommend a 'No' vote on that article at Town Meeting. That recommendation was presented as discussion only and no board vote on the warrant article was recorded.
On facilities, Carter reported updated conduit quotes for Town Park and said the town will use WestCo; Gilford Well is scheduled to do work at the park in April and the gate is expected to open April 1. Carter also said new Transfer Station hours will begin March 31 and that signage will notify the public, using the Fire Department’s portable sign.
Regional and administrative items included Deacon’s upcoming meeting with the Planning Board on behalf of the Conservation Commission and Vice Chair Glenn Frederick’s continuing work identifying old telephone poles for removal by Consolidated Communications. Stafford reported she has forwarded information about a possible land purchase to the town attorney for review. A gravel-yield document was signed as part of routine signatures.
The meeting adjourned at 5:58 p.m.; the board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for March 25, 2026.
