Hermosa Beach board renews superintendent, executive director contracts and ratifies tutoring agreement

At its July 8 meeting the Hermosa Beach City School District board approved several personnel and contract items, including a closed-session settlement and multiple employment-contract renewals.

Closed-session settlement: The superintendent announced the board approved a settlement agreement in case OCR 9261565 during closed session. The superintendent read the roll-call result for the settlement: "President Barrow, yes. Board member Van Landingham, yes. Board member Cole, yes. Board member Bove LaMonica, yes. And Vice President/Clerk Cluth, absent." The transcript records a roll-call announcement read by the superintendent.

Consultant/tutoring ratification: The board ratified an agreement with Professional Tutors of America to provide as‑needed special-education personnel and tutoring. Superintendent contract renewal: The board considered and approved the superintendent’s employment agreement renewal following completion of the annual performance evaluation, which staff reported as satisfactory. Board members expressed support; the item passed by voice vote.

Executive director contract renewal: Staff recommended and the board approved renewing the employment agreement for executive director Sylvia Gluck, with board members praising her institutional knowledge and service to the district.
