At a set of three consecutive public hearings on July 1 the Wolfeboro Selectmen approved the town’s application to the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority seeking up to $750,000 in CDBG housing funds for Harriman Hill 1 and 2.
Caitlin Meaney, asset management director for Lakes Region Community Developers (LRCD), told the board the funds would be used to replace approximately 18 boilers, repair water damage that caused subfloor rot in three kitchens, and build small mail‑house covers at Harriman Hill 1 and 2 on Beck Drive. She clarified that tenant eligibility and unit advertising must comply with fair‑housing rules and that tenants could come from across the Lakes Region; once housed, tenants become Wolfeboro residents.
Selectman Brian moved to approve the proposed CDBG application with the usual retention of up to $35,000 for administrative, procurement and labor‑compliance costs; the motion passed by voice vote. The board also adopted the anti‑displacement and relocation assistance plan required for CDBG projects (no displacement anticipated for this scope of work) and re‑adopted the town’s three‑year housing and community development plan.
The board further authorized the town manager to sign and submit the CDBG application and, if the grant is approved, to execute the contract and any amendments necessary to effectuate the award.
What’s next: staff will submit the application, retain required administrative funds if awarded, and work with LRCD and town departments on implementation and any required site reviews or minor planning input related to mailbox covers.
