Swisher council votes to pursue annexation; staff asked to get county reimbursement figure

The engineer told the council that some of the available bond money could be used for street, sanitary sewer or water infrastructure and that engineering and attorney steps remain before annexation is finalized. Council members emphasized timing: the bond funds must be spent by the end of the next June in order to comply with requirements tied to the tax-exempt bonds, so staff were directed to refine cost estimates and report back promptly.
A motion "to move forward on the annexation" and to initiate contact with the county carried; the motion did not commit the council to a dollar amount or to a specific infrastructure project but directed staff to obtain a formal county reimbursement figure and to return with detailed numbers for the council to consider in a future vote.
