Resident urges city to prioritize seal-coating on Swisher View Drive

Greg Brennaman told the Swisher City Council on July 22 that a recent seal-coating job on Swisher View Drive stopped short of several patched or cracked spots, leaving about 300 feet of roadway untreated. “They seal coated from the end of the asphalt of Swisher View Drive, up the hill ... and they stopped there,” Brennaman said, and he noted at least three previously patched spots that he believed should have been included with the rest of the resurfacing.
Brennaman traced some damage back to heavy truck traffic tied to nearby construction in 2017 and the 2011 sewer-treatment upgrade, and he asked whether the city has a master plan that would show when that stretch would be scheduled for sealing. He said he did not expect an immediate answer but requested the council consider raising the priority next year.
Chair (speaker 2) acknowledged receiving Brennaman’s email and said the council would consult the city engineer to confirm the street-improvement schedule. Council members noted the town performs three improvement projects annually and that staff try to add small repairs where possible. The council agreed to follow up by making the engineering plan public and contacting Brennaman with the engineer’s reply.
The council did not take a formal vote tied specifically to the comment; Brennaman’s remarks were recorded during the public-comment portion of the agenda, and council staff said they would seek to post or distribute the city’s street-improvement plan.
