Mill Sports Lounge wins approval for all-alcohol restaurant license at 110 Gorham Street

The Lowell Lisonbee Commission approved a Section 12 all-alcohol restaurant license for Mill Sports Lounge LLC at 110 Gorham Street during its July 9 meeting after a short public hearing and a favorable police inquiry.

Attorney Tyler Hensler, representing Mill Sports Lounge LLC, told the commission the proposal is for a sports bar and lounge serving Mexican dishes, beer, wine and cocktails. "They're applying for a section 12 restaurant license, an all alcoholic beverages license to be exercised at 110 Gorham Street here in Lowell," Hensler said. He identified Cindy Martinez as the manager of record and said the applicants have prior restaurant experience.

The commission asked city staff to request a police check on the manager's prior operations. Secretary Paez summarized a brief report from Captain David Peasley indicating that after inquiries there were "minimal negative interactions" related to Martinez's prior business in Lynn and that there did not appear to be significant licensing or regulatory concerns. Commissioner Donahue confirmed for the record that Cindy Martinez's TIPS (alcohol service) certification and any bartender certifications were included in the application materials.

No members of the public spoke in favor or opposition during the hearing. Following the presentation and the police inquiry, the commission moved to approve the license (motion by Commissioner Krieger, second by Commissioner Underwood) and voted in favor. The license was approved without conditions in the public hearing record; the commission closed the hearing and wished the applicants well.
