Center City Council approves equipment contract, snow-and-ice policy and donation

Center City's City Council on Feb. 4 approved a series of routine contracts and policy updates, including a one-year equipment contract and a revised snow-and-ice control policy.
The council unanimously approved a one-year Baribeau Skid Steer Contract for $3,000 after reviewing the annual terms. The motion to approve was made by Councilmember Mark Wolcott and seconded by Councilmember Sally Swanson; the vote was 5-0.
The council also reviewed and adopted an updated Snow and Ice Control Policy that contains only minor changes. The policy specifies that salt will be used as needed to maintain safe driving conditions and explicitly states that the city will not use a "bare pavement" strategy because additional salting can harm nearby lakes. Councilmember Mark Wolcott moved to adopt the policy; Councilmember Garrett Boulineau seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
During Clerk/Treasurer Dana Miron's report the council voted to donate an operational but unused mixer found in city storage to the Chisago Lakes Lions Club. Mayor Jill Behnke moved to donate the equipment; Councilmember Sally Swanson seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
The consent agenda, approved at the start of the meeting, included the Feb. agenda, January regular and working-session minutes, and January claims. That motion was made by Councilmember Mark Wolcott and seconded by Councilmember Sally Swanson; it passed with a 5-0 vote.
The meeting adjourned at 7:07 p.m. after a motion by Councilmember Sally Swanson and a second from Councilmember Garrett Boulineau; the adjournment motion carried unanimously.
