Selectboard notes sharp drop in unregistered dogs, agrees temporary fire-spigot reopening and reviews facility repairs

The Stratford Selectboard on June 15 heard several administrative updates and approved routine documents after a meeting that ran from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Maryanne Lister told the board that dog-registration noncompliance had fallen dramatically — from 384 unregistered dogs to 28 — and commended Animal Control Officer Mario for his enforcement and outreach. The board identified several properties, including 93 Skyview Road, for follow-up and noted civil forfeitures remain an option if owners do not register pets.
Public-works updates from Brian Hays covered repairs, leak responses, meter replacements, service-line work and backflow-prevention installations; he said staff will document homeowner conversations about compliance. The board reviewed two quotes for Town Hall floor stripping and polishing, and discussed ongoing exterior repairs at the library including replacement of rotted materials and painting.
Suzanne Goulet raised concerns about squatters, rubbish accumulation and neglected properties; Health Officer Mario is monitoring affected addresses and considering health-code enforcement or referrals as appropriate. The board agreed to temporarily reopen the public water spigot at the fire station after requests to restore access, but said usage will be monitored.
The board approved manifests (C. Goulet / R. Scott, Jr.) by a 2–0 vote for the weeks of May 18, May 26, June 1 and June 8, 2026, and signed routine documents including minutes and items related to an upcoming Trans‑NH Bike Ride and an NHDES landfill review. The board also agreed to pursue FEMA grant funding with consultant Jane Hubbard for a Hazard Mitigation Plan renewal and asked Ron and other members to seek qualified masonry or stone‑restoration specialists to evaluate cracks in the Veterans Monument.
