Selectboard weighs Old Mill Road trail reroute and road maintenance concerns

Committee member Amber Rock told the Selectboard that the town is considering a temporary reroute of the Old Mill Road trail because of landowner issues; she said the board discussed signage, speed limits and temporary access arrangements and would review the situation again after July 19 while coordinating with Fish and Game.
During public input, resident John McCarthy pressed the board about Old Mill Road grading and plowing on Route 3. The Selectboard said there are limited road maintenance resources and that priorities and budget limitations guide when and how work is scheduled.
Selectman Ron Scott Jr. said he will speak with the Road Agent about gravel placement on town roads, and Selectman Harry Juergens said he will coordinate with the Road Agent on costs and roadway signage for identified problem areas near the post office and park stands.
