The Sugar Hill Selectmen confirmed the town has received variance and site-plan applications from Blue Sky for a proposed communications tower and announced a joint preliminary hearing of the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 27, 2026, at the Crapo Building.
Town Administrator Jennifer Gaudette told the Selectmen the applications had arrived and the two boards will consider them together at the preliminary hearing. Selectman Chris Ellms noted the proposed tower would be 150 feet tall, compared with an existing tower on Scragg that he said is 192 feet, offering a height comparison for the boards and the public.
The hearing is a preliminary step in the variance and site-plan process; the joint meeting will allow both land-use boards to review the applications and determine whether additional information or public hearings are needed. The Selectmen did not take any formal vote on the application at the Dec. 22 meeting.
The board posted the hearing date and time and indicated the public and interested parties may attend the Jan. 27 session at the Crapo Building.
