The Select Board on May 12 approved a Code Compliance Agent job description intended to combine previous junkyard compliance and groundwater protection duties and discussed a companion 'Required Notification to Build' application that adds exceptions and fees.
Select Board member Lianne Prentice reviewed the job description and the draft notification form; Richard Doucette suggested adding the phrase 'as needed' regarding attendance at meetings. Prentice said fee establishment will require a public hearing and that changing the $5,000 minimum threshold would need approval at Town Meeting. The draft application retains exemptions for minor activities (for example, painting or planting) that do not affect assessing.
Doucette moved to approve the Code Compliance Agent job description with the recommended edits; the motion carried on a roll-call vote with Doucette, Behr, Schaeffer and Prentice voting yes and Emery Roberts voting no. The board agreed to schedule a public hearing to set fees related to compliance follow-up.
