Carlisle to add flashing school-zone signs; council raises e-bike and scooter safety concerns

City Manager Chris Lohr said the city ordered solar-powered flashing signs that the school district can program for school hours and special events; he added the portable speed feedback sign may be relocated once permanent signs are in place.
Council and the mayor also raised concerns about e-bikes, scooters and dirt bikes. Mayor Randy Winkler said he observed riders traveling through crowds at Roscoe Roof Park during Food Truck Night and emphasized the park trails are intended for walking and exercise. Council member Michael Kilpatrick noted residents submitted photos and videos of improper use, reminded the public that e-bikes are not permitted on city roads or sidewalks, and said the Police Department can cite or impound repeat violators to protect public safety.
What happens next: The school-zone signs are expected to arrive in the coming weeks and will be programmed by the school district; enforcement of e-bike restrictions remains the responsibility of the police department.
