Avon forms Affordable Housing Task Force, appoints seven members

The Avon Town Council on April 4 approved a charge establishing an Affordable Housing Task Force (AHTF) of seven members to oversee implementation of the Town’s 2022 Affordable Housing Plan and to report recommendations to the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Under the approved charge the AHTF may include up to three Planning & Zoning Commission members and four other members, must comply with minority political party representation as specified by state statute, serve two-year terms to Dec. 31, 2025, and submit disclosures required by Town policy. The Task Force is advisory, will not be compensated and will file records with the Town Clerk.
The council then appointed Christine Graesser (chair), Peter Mahoney, Randall Bowers, Mardelle Pena, Chelsea Ross, Kiley Goslin, and Christopher Russo. Chairman Dan Polhamus thanked appointees and noted affordable housing is a priority for the town; council members agreed minutes from Task Force meetings will be posted online and the council may request a presentation if desired.
The charge authorizes the Task Force to research policies and programs, facilitate education and outreach, and make recommendations to the Planning & Zoning Commission based on the Affordable Housing Plan goals.
