Avon council approves purchase of 0.87 acres at 65 Nod Road to secure sewer access

The Avon Town Council voted April 4 to acquire roughly 0.87 acres of land at 65 Nod Road to provide unencumbered access to a sanitary sewer pump station. Town Manager Brandon L. Robertson told the council the purchase price of $50,000 was set by the Assessor’s Office and staff recommended moving forward.
The public hearing on the proposal was opened and closed during the meeting after no members of the public spoke. The council then passed a resolution authorizing the acquisition and directed the Town Manager to execute all documents necessary to complete the purchase. Council members Ausiello, Barthel, Bratton, Polhamus and Weber voted in favor of the action.
Council documents state the $50,000 will come from the Sewer Fund committed fund balance, which is funded by sewer users. The resolution also included a transfer of the appropriation into the Capital & Nonrecurring Expenditure Fund for land acquisition. The Town Manager is authorized to take further actions and ratify any preparatory acts already taken in anticipation of the acquisition.
Next steps include any action by the Board of Finance as noted in the minutes and the Town Manager’s execution of the necessary purchase instruments. The minutes say related matters will appear later under Old Business if further council action is required.
