The board then approved the resignations unanimously, 7-0.
The board approved several appointments and role assignments presented by a board member, including Scott Johnson as athletic director (North Decatur High School) and corporation bus driver, Caitlin Harrell as a part-time music teacher at South Decatur Elementary, and other temporary and extracurricular staffing items. The appointments were approved 7-0.

The board characterized this as a first reading and said it will take final action at the next meeting if no issues are raised.
Other routine business approved by unanimous vote included student fundraisers for North Senior High School (proceeds to uniforms, camp tuition and related costs), a $250 donation earmarked for South Decatur Elementary’s back-to-school efforts, and disposal of obsolete equipment after school staff cleaned out storage (the list included about 15 broken calculators and multiple decades-old textbooks).
