Representatives of the Siskiyou Economic Development Council (EDC) appeared before the Board to present and summarize a one-page study on the economic impacts to Siskiyou County from the Roseburg Mill closure.
Tonya Dowse, Executive Director, and AJ Brown, Program Director, described county economic effects and efforts the EDC is taking to address job and revenue losses. The presentation was recorded as part of the Board's public presentations.
During the subsequent public hearing on the Recommended Budget, Supervisor Michael N. Kobseff raised concerns about proposed cuts to the county's contribution to the EDC and the proposed increase in funding to the Collier Interpretive and Information Center. Board members discussed the CIIC funding level and the need for information on city participation and revenue-generation limitations at the Collier Roadside Rest Area.
