Siskiyou County adopts code reorganization and multiple zone‑change ordinances

The Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors on June 16 adopted a series of ordinances that reorganize county departmental responsibilities and approve multiple zone changes across unincorporated areas.
The Board waived second reading and adopted Ordinance 26‑02, repealing and replacing Title 2, Chapters 36 and 37 of the Siskiyou County Code to reassign the Environmental Health Division from the Community Development Department to the Health and Human Services Agency. Community Development Director Hailey Lang said there had been no changes since the ordinance's first reading.
Continuing a series of second-reading, continued public‑hearing items, the Board adopted Ordinance 26‑03 (reclassifying approximately 160 acres off Schulmeyer Gulch Road to Timberland Production Zone, APN 014-350-050), Ordinance 26‑04 (reclassifying approximately 640 acres off Mill Creek Road and Soap Creek Road to TPZ, APNs 014-181-160 and 014-181-370), Ordinance 26‑05 (reclassifying approximately 2,600 acres around Montague to TPZ across several APNs) and Ordinance 26‑06 (reclassifying about 11.4 acres at Mott Road and Mott Airport Road to Highway Commercial District, APN 030-230-270). Deputy Director of Planning James Phelps advised there were no changes since the first readings; the Clerk reported no public correspondence or public comment for these items.
For each ordinance the Board determined the project was exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under the stated exemptions and adopted the ordinances via roll-call votes.
