USFS proposes Wildcat snowmobile trail reroute; town and neighbors to rescout

Jenifer Bratsch, U.S. Forest Service trails manager, presented a proposed reroute of the Wildcat snowmobile trail at the Town of Drummond board meeting on June 10 to address a private landowner's objection to the current alignment.
Bratsch said the reroute would resolve the conflict but acknowledged concerns that the new alignment would come close to several residences. The official comment period on the proposal has ended, she said, but the USFS will still consider comments offered within the next week and has agreed to re-scout the trail with the Town to evaluate alternatives that would minimize disturbances to neighboring landowners.
No formal action or vote by the board was recorded; the USFS and town will conduct additional field review before any final route is selected.
