Village of Eagle adopts school-zone signage, approves event permit and equipment purchases

Chairperson Marcus Hochstein opened the Village of Eagle Board of Trustees meeting at 7:00 p.m. on June 15, 2026, recording trustees Hochstein, Meier and Surman present. The board approved several routine items and adopted Resolution 2026-10 to create an official school zone on 1st Street.

The board voted to purchase a Lifepak 35 docking station from Stryker for $1,664.00. The motion to approve the purchase was made by Chairperson Marcus Hochstein and seconded by Committee member Meier; the minutes record the vote as "Ayes – 3." The board also approved Eagle Park & Recreation’s request to host two pool parties during the 2026 season after a motion by Committee member Surman, seconded by Committee member Meier (vote recorded as Ayes – 3).

Committee member Surman moved, and Committee member Meier seconded, approval of a Special Event Permit and the closure of Applewood Drive between David Lane and Douglas Drive on July 4, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.; the meeting minutes record the vote as "Ayes – 4." The minutes also show approval of Reny's Gravel Grading's estimate to grade the north driveway and parking lot at Eagle Municipal Park for $700.00 (motion by Surman, second by Meier; Ayes – 3). Note: the record lists three trustees as present at the start of the meeting but records one motion with four ayes; that discrepancy is noted in the official minutes and in this report (see audit).

The board introduced and then adopted Resolution No. 2026-10, which the Village read into the record. The resolution cites Municipal Code §5-210 as authority to place traffic-control signs and sets the following sign locations on 1st Street within the village corporate limits: a "School Ahead" sign on the east side approximately 228 feet north of Highway 34; a "School Crossing" sign on the east side approximately 18 feet south of E Street; an "End School Zone" sign on the east side approximately 71 feet north of D Street; a "School Ahead" sign on the west side approximately 71 feet south of D Street; a "School Crossing" sign on the west side approximately 45 feet north of E Street; and an "End School Zone" sign on the west side approximately 228 feet north of Highway 34. The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Committee member Meier and seconded by Committee member Surman; the minutes report the adoption vote as "Ayes – 3."

The board approved the minutes from the prior meeting (motion by Meier, second by Surman; Ayes – 3) and adjourned at 7:23 p.m. Village Clerk Nick Nystrom read the resolution text during the meeting and appears in the meeting signature line.

Actions recorded in the minutes were procedural and routine: equipment procurement, event permitting and road closure, park maintenance contracting, and establishment of traffic-control signage for a school zone. No public comments were recorded during the public comment period.
