On Jan. 8, 2026, the Plan Commission recommended that the City Council approve a Lions Club proposal to install two unisex municipal restrooms at Gremban Park behind City Hall. The bathrooms would be sited toward Third Street to minimize sewer connection costs.
Mike Sanborn presented preliminary plans and said the buildings would closely mirror the restrooms at Riverview Park. Commissioners discussed hours of operation and ongoing maintenance costs; Vilas County Chair Jerry Burkett asked about hours and maintenance. Commissioner John Hletko announced he would abstain from the vote because he is an active Lions Club member. The commission recommended that neighbors within 300 feet be notified of the project.
The recommendation will move to City Council for a final decision and any required permitting or funding approvals.
