Elk Mound trustees approve routine business, set newsletter schedule and hear service reports

The Village of Elk Mound Board of Trustees on Feb. 10 handled routine village business and heard department and committee reports.
Village President Terry Stamm called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.; Clerk-Treasurer Karin Wolf verified that meeting notice had been posted. Trustees approved the Jan. 20 minutes (motion Benjamin/Hahn) and approved combined checks 33205–33236 and direct deposits V3894–V3915 for a total of $56,678.44 (motion Lien/Price). The board moved two agenda items earlier in the meeting and referred a staffing reevaluation to the Employee Relations Committee.
Trustee Tim Benjamin and Trustee Pat Lien moved to publish the Village newsletter every other month; it will be posted on the Village website with hard copies at Village Hall and the library. Director of Public Works Mark Levra presented the Water/Sewer report (on file) and Police Chief Chad Weinberger presented the Police Chief report (on file). The Fire Department reported seven calls for service this month and 68 calls in 2024, with a membership of 20; the board discussed aligning billing procedures among the three municipalities in the fire district and updating the memorandum of understanding. The Elk Mound/Colfax Solid Waste & Recycling unit reported maintenance problems with two rebuilt trash compactors and is seeking vendors that can reuse bubble wrap and other items currently disposed of as trash.
Tim Benjamin noted that the Dunn County Economic Development Board is preparing a county housing-development toolkit (in draft) and will provide Syncurrent grant-search software—funded by the Dunn County Economic Development Corporation—for use by member municipalities. President Stamm reported that Bruce Knutson of the Elk Mound Lions Club submitted a draft proposal to replace the “Elk Mound Village Park” sign; the proposal will be scheduled for a future agenda. The meeting adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
