Public Works official Bryan Bechel told the board the Village experienced a water-main break on Feb. 14 that was isolated and scheduled for repair by Next Level on Feb. 15; snow removal occurred the same day. He also described routine culvert clearing to prevent blockages.
Bechel said the Village met with Safe Step, a company that offers sidewalk mapping and cutting of uneven sections; he said the vendor’s initial setup cost, which includes the first year of cutting, starts at $2,500. He presented chip-seal estimates for three locations: County Road P South (to seal the width beyond the 24 feet maintained by the county) at $5,225; Wilson Avenue at $8,970; and May Avenue at $4,830, with Wilson and May slated for new pavement sections.
No motions or votes were recorded on these items during the meeting; the report was informational. The minutes do not include a recommended funding source or timeline for the chip-seal work, nor do they indicate whether the Safe Step proposal will be accepted or put out to competitive bid.
