The Elm Grove Building Board voted on Jan. 6 to table a storefront sign application for CC Aesthetic Boutique so the applicant can revise the sign's design and placement.
Chairman Olson said he did not like a white sign mounted directly on the existing brick façade. Ms. Jackson said the proposed sign did not align visually with the adjacent Wine Down sign. Mr. Thedford suggested centering the sign above the westernmost window and recommended a darker background with white lettering to increase contrast and visual cohesion. Dylan Braun of Innovative Signs asked to consult the business owner before returning with a revised proposal. The board voted 6-0 to table the request and directed the applicant to submit modifications for a future agenda.
The proposal had called for a 24" x 72" (12 sq ft) aluminum sign with no lighting; board members discussed material, placement and alignment with neighboring signage. The item was tabled rather than denied, allowing the applicant an opportunity to address board feedback and present updated designs.
