Residents press Elmwood board to sign crosswalk permit after school’s $62,000 investment; sidewalks flagged for maintenance

During public input the board heard multiple neighborhood concerns, most notably a request from resident Glenn Webb for the village to complete and sign a free permit for crosswalk paint and lights.

Glenn Webb said both he and the school board had approved crosswalk improvements and that "the school has already invested approximately $62,000 into the walking path and trail." He asked the village to fill out and sign the permit so the school’s planned crosswalk and lights can be installed.

President Neil Boltik responded that he is eager to assist but said formal approval requires a properly noticed meeting. "A formal meeting needs to be scheduled to address the matter properly," Boltik said, and he asked Webb to call the clerk to arrange a joint meeting between the village board and the school.

Also during public input, Richard Tiffany told the board that grass and weeds are growing through the sidewalks and need attention; the transcript records the complaint but no specific remedy or timetable was recorded.

Russell Price introduced Tony Denucci, a scheduling manager for Pro AWF, who asked whether Pro AWF could participate in next year’s UFO Days; board members noted UFO Days is organized by the Community Club and asked Price to share contact information for follow-up.

The board did not vote on the crosswalk permit at the meeting and directed staff to schedule a formal discussion with the school; the crosswalk request remains unresolved pending that joint meeting.
