Land Use Board pushes economic development and a walking path proposal at park

The borough's Land Use Board has been conducting stakeholder outreach on business development, historic preservation and recreation, and on Sept. 28 Mayor George P. Hutnick summarized those discussions for the council.
Hutnick said the board's work includes consulting local business owners about what they want in town, preparing an economic-development plan, and promoting the borough's historical assets. Recreation proposals discussed with stakeholders include hiking and biking trails.
One small project under early consideration is a walking path around the firehouse park and field. Hutnick said borough staff will measure the field to estimate how many laps equal a mile and that the Land Use Board has been receptive to the idea. A fall Land Use survey will be distributed in the borough's flyer and posted on the website to gather resident input.
The council took no formal action; the Land Use Board and council will continue planning and solicit feedback through the survey.
