Ogdensburg officials on Sept. 28 reviewed a sales agreement for a new fire engine and confirmed a financing schedule tied to an upcoming note sale.
Councilwoman Slater said the borough is finalizing a sales agreement with HME Incorporated for the apparatus. Mike Marceau, the borough chief financial officer, said the note sale is expected around Oct. 18–20, with closing on Oct. 30 and funds available on Nov. 2 — dates that will shape when the council can approve any purchase resolution.
Mr. Eric Slater, chief of the Ogdensburg Fire Department, introduced Sean Desjardins, production and marketing manager for Emergency Equipment Sales LLC. Desjardins told the council, "it is a Class A Pumper Fire Apparatus." The vendor and chief answered technical and timing questions from council members about delivery and the timing of the resolution authorizing the purchase.
Marceau and Borough Attorney Robert McBriar discussed the timing for a formal resolution that would certify availability of funds and allow the borough to draw the check. Council members agreed the resolution would likely be scheduled for an October 26 or Nov. 9 meeting so that disbursement can proceed after closing and certification of funds.
The council did not vote on the purchase at the Sept. 28 meeting; members reviewed vendor and financing details and directed staff to place a resolution on a future agenda for official approval.
