Mayor Duggan seeks reassignment of Alderperson Neeley from Municipal Services Committee after agenda changes

At its Jan. 14 regular meeting, the Evansville Common Council discussed mayoral recommendations affecting Alderperson Cory Neeley after the council’s initial 8-0 vote to approve the agenda removed several proposed mayoral actions.
During the roll call and agenda vote, Neeley moved — and the council approved — a change to the published agenda that struck items 10A, 10B and 10D, which included two proposed removals and a resolution. That agenda motion was seconded by Alderperson Ben Corridon and passed by roll call, 8-0.
Mayor Dianne Duggan later addressed remaining personnel items on the mayoral communications list, including a recommendation to remove Neeley from the Municipal Services Committee. When Neeley requested the reasoning for the recommendation, Duggan said the change was prompted by what she described as “a disruption in the Committee being able to complete tasks to make forward progress.”
The minutes record the agenda-strike vote and Duggan’s statement but do not show a subsequent formal council vote to remove Neeley from the Municipal Services Committee at this meeting. Duggan said there could be a reassignment later or at the April reorganization meeting.
The council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 11, 2025.
