Evansville council approves bonds, contracts, license and dam grant participation

The Evansville Common Council on Feb. 10 approved several financial and administrative items in a series of votes that passed unanimously or by roll call.

Finance and Labor Relations items: the council accepted January 2026 city bills totaling $2,837,674.18 on a motion by Alderperson Abbey Barnes and a second by Alderperson Ben Corridon (roll call 7-0). The council also approved a Code Enforcement contract with Municipal Code Enforcement LLC (moved Barnes; second Lathrop; roll call 7-0) and adopted Resolution #2026-05 to provide for the sale of approximately $3,125,000 in Water System Revenue Bond Anticipation Notes (moved Barnes; second Lathrop; roll call 7-0). Council discussion touched on amortization schedules for utility financing.

Public Safety and licensing: Alderperson Erika Stuart moved, and Bill Lathrop seconded, approval of an Alcohol Beverage License (Class A Beer/Class A Liquor) for Kwik Trip, Inc., Christopher Turenwald, agent; motion passed 7-0.

Infrastructure and grants: Alderperson Ben Corridon moved the council approve Resolution #2026-03 authorizing participation in the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Municipal Dam Grant Program; Alderperson Lita Droster seconded and the motion passed 7-0.

Follow-ups: Alderperson Joe Geoffrion asked whether costs related to Kwik Trip's boring would be reimbursed; the Municipal Services Director had left the meeting and was noted to follow up later. The council received the 4th quarter treasurer's report but had no discussion on it during the meeting.
