The Fennimore Common Council on Sept. 16 approved a proposed industrial park expansion layout and the associated costs needed for grant submittal, voting 6-0 on a motion by Alderperson Adam, seconded by Alderperson Hagen.
Council members also discussed an EDA Public Works Grant application. On a motion by Alderperson Hagen, seconded by Alderperson Sheckler, the council approved a resolution to submit the EDA Public Works Grant contingent on securing the required funds with a letter of credit from a bank; the motion carried on a roll call vote, 6-0. During discussion council members noted constraints on marketing the property prior to construction, including that no first-right-of-refusal would be granted until after construction begins.
Troy Maggied of the Southwest Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SWWRPC) later presented on a separate EDA Local Technical Assistance Grant for long-range planning and asked about allocation of local match; the council took no action on that application.
The minutes do not identify specific dollar amounts for the industrial park project or the EDA Public Works Grant request, nor do they record timelines for construction or anticipated start dates.
