Frederic board approves public-safety software license and permits for summer events

Police Chief Sams requested an additional Crimestar license so both squad vehicles can access incident-reporting software, allowing officers to complete reports from the squad rather than returning to the office. The board approved the request; the one-time cost is $1,900 with a $400 annual maintenance cost (motion by Brad Harlander; second Duane Wisse).
Jeremy, manager of the Friendly Tavern, asked to close a one-way section of Traffic Avenue for eight Thursday evening Corn Hole League events (6:30–8:30 p.m.). The board set conditions: the tavern must submit a certificate of insurance showing liability coverage, the tavern must supply and set up any required barricades, and Chief Sams will meet with the manager to confirm barricade appropriateness. The closure request was approved (motion by Rob Lillehaug; second Ben Morris).
Jeremy also requested a liquor license extension for a street dance on Saturday, June 21, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., with service planned on the street in front of the tavern and on the adjacent section of Traffic Avenue. Chief Sams confirmed the event would use plastic cups and cans, and the board approved the extension (motion by Duane Wisse; second Brad Harlander).
The board also approved Temporary Class 'B' Retailer licenses for Frederic Arts and the Frederic Rural Fire Department (motion by Patty Swenson; second Jackie Peterson), enabling both organizations to sell beer/wine at upcoming events.
These approvals were accompanied by standard conditions and documentation requirements; Village staff will follow up to confirm insurance and barricade arrangements where required.
