Gilman trustees ask police to follow up after residents raise concerns about an old trailer site

At the Oct. 8 meeting the Village of Gilman board revisited a longstanding public-nuisance matter at a site with old trailers and other debris. President Jane DeStaercke told trustees she had spoken with the property manager, Gina Holz, who said she had engaged a lawn-care service and planned cleanup efforts; the board said it had observed no progress since July.

Members cited concerns raised by residents Darrell and Derrick Romig about debris left where old trailers were sited and asked Police Chief Tom Tallier to send a follow-up letter to the manager and to check on an un-mowed lawn in town. Tallier had earlier reported a separate cleanup case involving Mike Slaughter that he recommended closing because he believed the cleanup would continue; trustees recorded no objection to closing that matter.

The board did not vote to take enforcement action at this meeting; it recorded the request that the police send correspondence to the manager and monitor property conditions between meetings. Further enforcement or formal action was not specified in the minutes.
