Gilmanton board approves Quartz employee health plan despite 19% premium increase

The Gilmanton School District Board of Education voted Dec. 18 to approve the Quartz employee health insurance plan for calendar year 2026 after being told it was the only viable option presented. The administration reported the selected plan would raise premiums about 19% compared with the prior year, exceeding the 12% increase assumed in the 2026 budget.
At the meeting, Kory Rud summarized the options and stated he would continue to search for a more cost‑effective plan for staff in future years. Jackson Serum moved to approve the Quartz plan; Lance Peterson seconded the motion and the board approved it 5‑0.
Board members did not indicate a change to the adopted budget; administration and staff will continue evaluating alternative plans and carrier options ahead of future open‑enrollment periods.
