Hollis approves $24,500 crack-seal contract and hears progress update on Rocky Pond Transfer Station

The Hollis Select Board voted 3-0 May 18 to accept a $24,500 proposal from Henry Dow to perform crack sealing on multiple local roads, and the town’s DPW director gave an extended update on progress at the Rocky Pond Transfer Station.
DPW Director Joanie recommended accepting Henry Dow’s proposal to crack-seal Rideout Road, Arty Lane, Federal Hill, Bell Lane and Pierce for $24,500. A Select Board member moved to accept the bid, the chair seconded, and the board approved the contract 3-0.
Joanie then provided a construction summary for the Rocky Pond Transfer Station: retaining-wall blocks were due to ship May 26; precast footing piers, light-pole bases, structural backfill and drain pipe are on site; demolition was reported at about 55% complete; UGE conduit runs were about 20% done; geotechnical firm GSI has conducted test pits and proof-roll reviews since May 13; and Meridian will begin biweekly construction monitoring around May 22. Joanie said the project is on schedule and that some drainage and culvert upgrades were being completed without additional cost to the town.
Joanie also updated the board on Dow Road work, saying DPW replaced the last six culverts, completed headwalls and reclaimed the road up to Jewett; she noted asphalt prices have risen but that costs were already budgeted.
No public comment was recorded on the crack-seal contract. The transfer-station update included several upcoming procurement and construction milestones; Joanie said she would follow up with individual staff (David) on truck mileage and other operational details.
