The Hollis Select Board unanimously approved a request May 18 to accept $15,000 in unanticipated revenue from the sale of 28 used self-contained breathing apparatus and to reinvest the money into the town’s SCBA program.
Fire Chief (speaking to the board) asked that the proceeds be reinstated to the department’s SCBA line and said the first purchases would include rapid intervention team packs and replacement hoses "that run about $2,000 a piece." "I would ask as part of that acceptance that it get reinstated to my SCBA line in the fire department budget," the chief said.
A Select Board member moved to accept and spend the anticipated revenue "of $15,000 from the sale of 28 used and or worn self contained breathing apparatus, which is to be reinvested into this SCBA program for the investment into rapid intervention packs and or general maintenance and repair," and the chair seconded. With no discussion from the public, the board voted 3-0 to approve the measure.
The board’s action directs the funds back to the fire department’s equipment line for maintenance and safety upgrades; the chief noted additional unforeseen needs could be covered from this allocation. No further conditions or implementation dates were specified.
