White Sulphur Springs parks committee adopts amended master-plan survey, launches public outreach

The White Sulphur Springs Parks Advisory Committee on Oct. 29 unanimously adopted an amended master-plan survey and approved a public outreach schedule that will conclude with a booth at the Dec. 13 Christmas Stroll.
The committee accepted Great West’s recommendation to have respondents choose their top four unranked priorities. On the motion to adopt that change, Kelly Huffield seconded by Jen Frazer, the committee voted unanimously to approve the amended survey.
Liaison Pattie Berg and committee members laid out a targeted outreach plan to reach youth, service clubs and the general public. Planned activities include distributing paper surveys at the clerk’s office when residents pay water bills, encouraging library staff to collect completed questionnaires, soliciting Rotary, Lions and Chamber members, and hosting a table at the Christmas Stroll. Jen Frazer will add a QR code and place survey information on pegboards and will recruit volunteers, with Jordan Kibbee helping on logistics.
Members also discussed using survey responses alongside a newly installed game camera and forthcoming drone photos to measure pre- and post-renovation park usage. The committee directed outreach to begin immediately and to continue through the December event.
The committee left the question of whether to hold a soft opening or a single grand opening for Springs Park to a future meeting.
