Eversource presents South Merrimack pole upgrades and tree removals; board accepts informational filing

Allison Marcotte, identified as an Eversource utility arborist, said the company proposes to remove about 23 trees and to trim others along a span the company estimated roughly from house number 22 to about 200 on South Merrimack Road to install fiber optic lines and allow third‑party cell equipment. "We are proposing to remove 23 trees and do some trimming along 22 poles...they're going up to 45 feet," Marcotte said. She said cut brush and removals would be chipped the same day when possible and that wood could be removed within a few days.
Board members asked for a direct contact and Marcotte provided her office number for residents with follow-up concerns; she also agreed to try to assist a resident who said Eversource removed a private gate and had not resolved a lock issue.
After brief questions the board voted to accept the scenic-road informational filing; the item was presented as informational rather than a formal multi-step acceptance process for scenic-road hearings.
