Gilman board approves Mosaic support, Lions building addition and hires part‑time worker

Village of Gilman President Jane DeStaercke opened the regular board meeting at 6:00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance before members approved routine minutes and bills.
Trustee Ericka Motte moved — and Trustee Dee Bornheimer seconded — approval of minutes for several January and February meetings with one correction noted; the motion passed. Trustee Cheryl Rosemeyer moved and Trustee Mark Person seconded approval of vouchers, payroll and journal entries; that motion carried on a roll call vote recorded as 5 in favor, 0 opposed, with two members absent at the time (Preston and Baker).
On new business the board approved a letter of support for Mosaic Internet. President Jane DeStaercke moved the motion, which Trustee Ericka Motte seconded; the board approved it on a 6‑0‑1 roll call (Preston absent). The board also approved a Lions Club request, with CBA support, to add to the Food Building at no cost to the village; that motion was moved by DeStaercke and seconded by Trustee Cheryl Rosemeyer and passed with all in favor.
Trustee Dee Bornheimer moved to hire Warren Dodge as a part‑time casual call‑in worker; Trustee Mark Person seconded and the motion passed on a roll call vote of 6‑0‑1 (Preston absent).
The meeting included routine reports from the treasurer, clerk and police chief. Clerk Candice Grunseth reported the village completed a virtual audit Feb. 6–11 with a final audit report expected in late April and said there were no new developments on two grant applications she has been tracking. The meeting adjourned at 6:38 p.m.
