West Yellowstone council appoints Brock Wilson to fill short-term vacancy

After interviewing the single applicant for a short-term vacancy, the West Yellowstone Town Council voted to appoint Brock Wilson to fill a council seat through Dec. 31.
Wilson told the council he ran for town council on Nov. 4 and has been active on the Park & Rec board and a local government review board, where he said he reviewed the town charter and gained experience he believes will help on the council. He said he regularly attends council meetings and wanted to begin serving immediately rather than wait to be sworn in in January.
A council member moved to appoint Wilson; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The clerk administered the oath of office at the meeting; Wilson repeated the sworn language and was seated for the remainder of the session. The council said it will make a formal vote at the regular meeting later that night on any remaining formalities related to the appointment.
